Dogs at Hendrifton Farm
Resident dogs Bob, a fun-loving slightly nutty Collie Terrier cross rehomed from Dogs Trust, Canterbury in July 2015, and Reka, a sofa-loving Border Terrier rehomed from Normandy, France in February 2018, look forward to showing your dogs their sniffing, playing and (unsuccessful) hunting grounds!
Making your dogs welcome
We welcome 3 small or 2 medium/ large well-behaved dogs into each cottage. Additional dogs may be allowed at our discretion.
We want your stay with us to be as comfortable and easy as possible, a home from home, and to aid this we provide:
- blankets for the sofas (and beds)
- dog towels
- doggy treats
- food bowl and dog fork
- poo bags
We also have “on holiday” name tags and if you have forgotten anything else we have extra food bowls, collars and leads and Bob will share his food if you need that the first night too!
We can provide details of local vets, dog groomers, dog walkers and dog sitters in case you need them during your stay. If you need to leave your dog alone in the cottage for a short while then please let us know so we can check on them for you.
Exercise area
Bob's field is close to the cottages and is fully fenced, it joins the part-fenced meadow and you are welcome to walk in these areas.
Dogs are allowed off lead in Bob's field but the wire fence does not block the view to the sheep, cows and horses nearby so please keep an eye on your furry friend, especially if he or she is a jumper or a digger!
We are happy for dogs to be off lead but please keep them under close control at all times – the fields surrounding Hendrifton Farm have sheep and cattle that are often in view, we occasionally see wild deer too.
There is a pond alongside the path between Bob's field and the meadow.
Please pick up after your dog! Poo bins are provided in Bob's field and the Caravan Field.
Walkies
At the edge of our boundary is a public footpath that runs alongside a small stream (the stream joins the Fowey river close to Golitha Falls), it is great for a doggy (and human) cool down or clean off! Along the footpath you can walk to Golitha Falls in one direction and to Common Moor village and Bodmin Moor in the other. A little further up the lane there is a footpath to Siblyback Lake.
Bob will love to play with your dog if he or she is friendly and playful, and he will be especially glad to play ball with any friendly children, whilst Reka is becoming an old lady and will probably just sit and watch!
We can guide you on dog friendly (and non dog friendly) beaches and walks, cafes, pubs and restaurants, even shops and attractions.
Cornwall really is a dog friendly place to be!
